Photos of a CityJet Sukhoi SuperJet SSJ100 painted in Brussels Airlines’ colors have been released, preceding its expected entry into service. The plane, EI-FWD, was delivered to Cityjet in November of 2016, and will be arriving in Brussels from Venice on March 25th, 2017, before entering service on the Brussels – Nice route on the 26th.

According to ch-aviation, CityJet will be be deploying the first of two starting on the 26th. The first aircraft will serve Berlin Tegel, Basle/Mulhouse/Freiburg, and Copenhagen, while the second will serve Vienna and Geneva. Weekend flights will be operated to Prague, Nice, Venice Marco Polo, and Bologna using the SuperJet.

The SSJ100s are arriving to replace three Avro RJ100 aircraft for Brussels Airlines, as Brussels Airlines has announced that they will be retiring the RJ100 by the end of 2017. Originally to be replaced by a combination of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, the SSJ100s are a temporary measure to prevent a loss of capacity or flight selection. Brussels Airlines’ RJ100s are configured with 97 Economy Seats, making the SSJ100 an ideal choice to temporarily replace the RJ100 until a permanent choice is made.
