Condor Airlines has started new seasonal flights between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Frankfurt Main International (FRA). Condor announced last year that it planned to add San Diego as a destination during the summer of this year. Seasonal service began earlier this month on a three-times-a-week schedule, with flights on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. (Saturday service starts in July. See below for a complete flight schedule.) Condor plans to use B767-300ER aircraft fitted with Business, Premium, and Economy classes. As of the publication of this article, this service is the only nonstop connection between San Diego and Continental Europe. It is Condor’s first nonstop service from San Diego to Germany.
“We are very pleased to introduce this new link between San Diego and Frankfurt, giving southern California a unique choice for their travels to Germany,” said Jens Boyd, Condor’s Group Head of Long-Haul. “San Diego is a very attractive destination for European tourists and also will stimulate traffic from this direction.
“As one of San Diego’s top partners for exports and foreign investment, Germany is fast becoming one of our economy’s most important international markets,” said Mark Cafferty, CEO of San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation.
Condor has already started Monday and Thursday service. Monday service ends on October 2, and Thursday service ends October 5. Saturday service begins July 8, and ends September 2. One-way economy class tickets cost $329. Round-trip tickets, for one person, can cost around $670.

Condor isn’t the only European carrier with new routes to SAN. Edelweiss, an airline based in Switzerland, plans to begin its own route from Zurich to San Diego. SAN is also a seasonal destination for Edelweiss, who will operate two flights a week from June until November.
Condor has begun two more seasonal routes into the United States from Frankfurt this Spring, with additional routes to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).
“Americans in our destination areas are very fond of traveling and we are pleased to be able to offer them a multitude of exciting travel destinations in Europe with the new affordable Condor direct flights and our attractive airline partnerships,” explained Ralf Teckentrup, an executive at Condor.
