Volaris, a Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) has begun new non-stop routes from Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (QRO). The new service make Chicago and Los Angeles Volaris’ most serviced in the U.S.

In a press release, Volaris said that “connecting these two important cities on both sides of the border will help overcome the nearly 2.8 million passengers that transported the firm during 2016 to the United States”.

20minutos.com, a Mexican news website, reports that these new routes are the first international flights from Querétaro.

“These two new routes are key to Volaris’ drive to connect our ‘Visiting Friends and Relatives’ (VFR) audience on both sides of the border,” said Holger Blankenstein, Chief Commercial Officer at Volaris. “By adding non-stop service from Querétaro to both Chicago and Los Angeles we follow through on our commitment to providing affordable and accessible travel options to our customers while simultaneously strengthening our foothold in two of the most important cities in North America.”
